I love choosing a theme or central idea to follow for my day (or my week). It helps me get focused, and reminds me to keep my life as simple as possible while the world is moving rather quickly around me.

What do I mean by a “theme” – an idea that you can focus on that will provide direction and clarity for your day.  Something like “peace” or “equanimity” or “joy.”

Themes aren’t right or wrong or better or worse, they just reflect your desires and what works for you. As those of you who have been following me could guess, my themes are usually “clarity” or “gratitude.” These themes are the cornerstone of my work and help me stay grounded throughout the day.  I never choose “peace” or “calm” which again, isn’t bad or good, they just don’t reflect what I need as the central focus of my day.

Being able to choose and stick to a theme or direction for your day might be more challenging than you think.

Again, the point? It provides a focus and reminder of what’s important both personally and professionally in your life. When I choose “gratitude” it works in all parts of my life. If I choose to focus on “service” it also works everywhere.

I watch all of my clients struggle with being overwhelmed by too much input and too many decisions. I, too, need ideas that are easy to “go to” or “return to” during my daily interactions. It’s that simple.

What are your favorite themes that you would choose to focus on in your daily interactions?  Serenity? Generosity? Kindness? Compassion?

Let’s try EFT/tapping on the challenge of this exercise.
