What if you decided to Tap First, and React Later…?

I wonder how much abundance
would flow into your life…

Sometimes I try to imagine what my life would have been like if I had learned tapping as a child, or even as a teen, what a difference it would have made! But that didn’t happen, so now I try to imagine how calm life would be if I would consistently Tap First, React Later!

If you knew how often I “forgot” to tap first before I reacted, you would laugh out loud. Or you might identify with me… At least I’ve gotten a lot better about tapping first… there are so many times and places it’s useful. And of course, now that I Tap First more often, there is very little need to React Later!

For instance – what about learning how to Tap First, React Later before you hit the send button… or what about before you pick up the telephone, before you answer someone. These are all good times to tap. Sometimes I learn about times to Tap First, React Later from other people – for example, I am quite sure that this man who sounded mad at the world didn’t tap before he sent me an email last week! And when a woman wrote me sounding irritated because my DVDs didn’t work in her car CD player… well, I’m sure she didn’t Tap First either!

Imagine how much more peace we would all have if we (and our friends and colleagues) tapped before we hit the “send” button… if we tapped before starting a business meeting, and tapped before “answering” or arguing or making suggestions… so much peace. And that’s one of the main advantages of tapping – peace of mind and clarity about our next action step.

In my view, there is no “downside” to conditioning yourself to Tap First, React Later. No downside whatsoever! It’s just hard to remember to tap in the middle of experiencing strong feelings. I’m reminded of a time when a snowstorm prompted the airlines to cancel my flight to an important conference where I was teaching EFT to a huge group of participants. Instead of tapping in the airport over the stress and news about my canceled flight, I was reacting all over the place! I tapped later, but I had so much “to do” (get new flights, call the conference chairperson etc) that I didn’t tap on my upset, frustration or helplessness. I’ve conditioned myself to tap more often when something is immediate, but it is definitely challenging to “remember” to tap when it’s not an automatic reaction.

When we React First, it’s because something in our primitive brain has been triggered… we are frightened or threatened, and our reaction is often so immediate it doesn’t appear that we have any other choice. In time, as we tap on our old upsets, worries, fears and reactions, we will condition ourselves to feel calmer in every situtation – and that’s priceless!

Is tapping a good habit for you yet? Or is it only something you do when you’re completely stressed out, or in a crisis? Sometimes we only pull out our best tools when we’re really in trouble. I’m recommending that we use this tool of tapping every day, all the time, even if we do it in our minds all day long!

Tap when you feel sad, overwhelmed, frustrated, when you don’t know what the answer is, when you don’t know what to do next. Tapping calms down the nerves and makes us “available” to new options – that may be one of my favorite uses for tapping – getting new answers we hadn’t thought of before.

Do you feel inspired to Tap First, React Later? I have to admit that my version of overwhelm had to get really bad in my life before I felt inspired (rather than motivated) to give up reacting and start tapping more often. I was one of those people who used tapping more for a crisis than everyday stress. Happily for me, those times have passed and I use tapping on a very regular basis. And remember, if you do learn to Tap First, it usually releases the need to React Later – what a major bonus!

Remember that our thoughts are real and carry energy and our vibration matters! When we are practicing raising our vibration the Law of Attraction will offer us more to feel good about, which raises our vibration and attracts even more abundance! But when we are reacting, our vibration is blocked and unclear, and we stay in resistance to abundance.

Once we learn how to Tap First, React Later, we release resistance, which makes attracting abundance so much easier. Releasing resistancemeans you will automatically become more congruent with the desires you have been asking for from Law of Attraction and your desires start to show up.
