What happened the last time you stood out?

You may want to be more successful, yet something in you pulls back when an opportunity would make you more visible. Before you decide you need more confidence, ask yourself what happened the last time you stood out.

This is the first episode in my new Fear of Success series. We're beginning with an experience that may have taught you it wasn't safe to stand out, even when you were doing well.

Maybe someone criticized you, judged you, or reacted with jealousy. You didn't see it coming. The shock, surprise, and hurt may still be in your body, even if the event happened years ago.

There are two different things to work with: what you felt when it happened, and the conclusion you made afterward. Something hurt you, and you decided, "It's not safe to stand out." No wonder you avoid the very opportunities that could help you move forward.

With EFT Tapping, let's begin with one specific incident and the feelings you still notice when you remember it. Stay with that one experience instead of jumping to every other time something happened.

Then we'll work with the belief that standing out isn't safe. How true does that feel now? You may notice less intensity in your body, or simply that something feels a little different. Both are worth noticing.

Your next yes is to take one small opportunity to stand out, professionally or personally. Nothing massive. Take that small step, notice how you feel, and tap on whatever comes up.

The rewire is from "I remember what happened last time, so I won't stand out" to "I can work with that old hurt and take one small step forward now."

Tap with me and notice what changes when the past reaction no longer has to make the decision for you.
